Ninjas Hate Video Games
This is how I imagine most pitch meetings for video game companies go these days.
I can’t really say I blame them for wanting to go this route. I mean, look at the tremedous popularity of both franchises. But there’s only so many times I can play the same game before it gets boring. Can we please bring back health bars and healing packs? Can we please ditch the the girl in our heads telling us what do next? And can we please bring back a little linearity to our games? Sandboxes are all fine and good, but not in every game ever!

It’s sad…but the safe route equals money. As long as it’s an easy way to make money, publishers will continue to go this route while game developers with good ideas will continue to be overlooked.

Sadly I agree with Fry. Like any media outlet, the people who control the money and decisions will always pick the safe route to pad their pockets. There should be some good games coming out soon though…like Ghostbusters…yeah I am excited for that and Starcraft 2…and possibly Assassins Creed 2

I know what you mean. Everybody keeps using the same formula for making games over and over again. Even when somebody does something new you realize when you play the game that they actually made the same thing as everybody else and just made it look different.
We’ll see what the future brings.
