Ninjas Hate Primetime TV
Mostly because there’s a whole lot of suck going on and very little quality. But then again, that’s just me. Some of you may actually like Heroes, which was only good until the WGA strike; Lost, which was only good for the first season; and CSI: Miami, which is only good on the extremely rare occasion.
And these are just examples of scripted television, which is a small fraction of what is on TV these days. The rest is procedural dramas and reality TV. Don’t even get me started on those.
Can we bring back some good, ol’fashioned shows? Please?
Sorry about the tardiness again. This isn’t actually the comic I had meant for today, but that one is turning out to be much bigger than I anticipated. I’ll need a few more days to crank it out.

Yeah, prim*e*time TV is pretty awful. Actually, TV in general is pretty awful. I know not everyone has access to this, but where I live we have over-the-air RTN — that is, the Retro Television Network — which has nothing but old primetime shows, some of which are pretty good (Rockford Files and It Takes a Thief) and some of which are pretty campy but well known and still kinda fun (Knight Rider, AirWolf, the A-Team). We also just recently got the THIS movie network, which has some pretty cool old movies on it. Of course, if you don’t have those, you could always try Hulu, even though it *is* a plot to take over the world.
On the other hand, there are some pretty good shows out there still. The Office is still hilarious, and that new Southland show is pretty cool from what I’ve seen of it. Still, a lot of what’s on is pretty lame (I’m looking at you, American Idol!) and I can’t believe that people watch it. Well, I gotta go. I just remembered that Biggest Loser is on!

BTW, I don’t think CSI: Miami has *ever* been good.

I think the real problem is reality tv. I hate it. Ive hated it since Real World began this horrible phenomenon, and have watched in abject horror as it has grown into the amoeboid beast that it is today.
Everytime I see a commercial for it on, or enjoy The Soups weekly teardown of the shows ( I know it is subversive advertisement for the shows ) I always turn to my wife and ask, “Why do we allow these people enjoy a celebrity status that isn’t deserved?!”
And then I go sacrifice another kitten.
I gave up on tv long ago, and only catch up on shows when they are on the intrawebz or in box set format.
I used to only watch Adult Swim on the cartoon network in college, but now that also is starting to spiral downward (Squidbillies, seriously?).
But I agree with gamefry, The Office, love it. Catch it every sunday on NBC.com.
There are a few good shows out there, but again I only watch them online, like Castle and Fringe.
Of course Im pretty sure theyll eventually be choked off by the new generation of cancer, that we call reality tv, sprouting up.

Or Jay Leno going to a daily 10pm spot. I am actually okay with the CSI’s only becuase I have taken a forensics class and watch knowing its fiction. I cannot stand the Law and Orders though. I watch L&O Criminal Intent only because I like Vincent D’onofrio. As many of you know my favorite show is Life and it was canned. Here is to hoping it gets picked up by USA, which I enjoy the majority of their shows.
Oh and my most hated types of scripted show, medical dramas. NBC picked up TWO new medical dramas. Really you had ER and let it go…WHY NOT JUST KEEP IT and NOT PICK UP OTHER SHOWS!

Several years ago I read a magazine editorial that said there are three words we don’t need to hear on TV: “Freeze,” “Objection,” and “Stat.” Yet, when it comes to the non-reality shows…well, I clearly don’t need to explain any further.
