Ninjas Love Tablets
Okay, so new comic, first one drawn using the new tablet. Still gonna take some getting used to. First thing, need thicker lines.
Another first for this comic, the panels and rough layouts were all done in Illustrator, while the finished lines were done in Photoshop.
I’ve discovered that I don’t like Photoshop anymore. I remember back in High School when I was all “Photoshop! Awesome! I can do crazy things here!” Now it feels really restrictive. Granted, part of that could be that all of my knowledge re: Adobe products dates back to the year 2000, but shouldn’t successive version make everything easier, not harder?
I dunno. Maybe I’ll just go back to my old method. Rough it with pencil and paper and then digitally ink it in GIMP. That may work out better.

Congrats on getting the new tablet! Here’s my unasked for two cents: Don’t look back! The tablet will take getting used to, but once you do, you’ll do amazing things that are probably beyond the scope of your expertise with more conventional methods. Besides, can’t you use a tablet in the GIMP? Either way will work, but like I said…forward, especially since the comic looks good with the new stuff!
I kinda hate to do this, but I kinda want to take a moment and hijack your space here. I’ve been reading a bunch of Wheel of Time the last few months, and am less than a hundred pages from finishing Crossroads of Twilight. I can actually see that some of the criticism of that particular piece of the series, since it (so far) does not seem to resolve too much. In fact, there’s a lot of space devoted to character re-introduction, which is at once irritating because it takes so much space, and necessary since there are so many characters and I need all the help I can get to keep track of them. Having said that, the writing is still as engrossing as ever, and I can’t help but recommend it. Brandon Sanderson, please hurry and finish the story! I must know what happens!
That leads me to some related WoT stuff that all you fans should know about. There is a short story that Jordan wrote (impossible as that seems) that you should if you missed it like I have. It’s not officially available online anymore (you have to find the book “The World of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time” to get it officially) but a quick bit of Googling will turn it up. It’s called The Strike at Shayol Ghul, and it’s fascinating.
You’ve probably also heard about the comic adaptation of the WoT being published by the Dabel Brothers. I’m not sure how that’s going to go, but there is one aspect that has me excited. One of my favorite WoT fan artists, Seamas Gallagher, was contracted to do some variant covers for the series, and has made them available at his blog, here (http://seamassketches.blogspot.com/). I *highly* recommend you check them out along with his other WoT artwork. Heck, all his stuff is pretty awesome.
So that’s it. Thanks for letting me use your space for a little ranting!

Two things to note: 1) The site Gamefry is linking to is an art site. There is artistic nudity. If your place of work frowns on that kind of thing, don’t click it. Even though there is tons of other awesome things.
2) Y’know, there is a forum. This would be perfect to go in there.

Firstly, apologies to any and all (especially Justin, since this is your site) that I may have gotten in trouble by linking to a site with artistic nudity. Since it is art, I don’t think of it as something that people may find offensive, but that is in fact the case. So, I’m sorry. I would also like to apologize for hijacking the Ninja’s blogspace for such a large post that is unrelated to the strip. This is his space after all, and although it is exactly what happened, it was not my intent to abuse the privilege of commenting. Again, my apologies.
Finally, I have posted the bulk of my comment in the forums for any that may want to comment on it.
